Mental Health Camp 2010

July 15, 2010

Just read a blog entry from Talking to Air.  People like Airdrie are the wind beneath my wings…

Ok, that was Fromage with a capital “F.” Check out her blog Talking To Air here.

But seriously, knowing that I am affecting people positively with the campaign is the fuel that will keep me going.  Thank you, Airdrie!

To have had the opportunity to speak at the 2nd Annual Mental Health Camp 2010 was incredible.  And to have had the chance to meet Airdire and so many others, to be around an educated and sane attitude towards mental illness was liberating.  Organized and founded by Raul Pacheco and Isabella Mori, the conference allowed many people from many walks of life to speak of their battles with mental illness, and in a particular their battles with mental illness stigma.

This year the focus of the camp was social media (pun intended) and how it is allowing many people to come out of hiding, to break free of the bullshit perceptions of mental illness.

Well done, Raul and Isabella.  You are pioneers and I am proud to know you!
