Ride Don’t Hide at the Provincial Health Services Authority
On Thursday December 8, Michael shared with human resource professionals at BC’s Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) about the importance of raising awareness of mental illness and combating the stigma associated with it. He will share what inspired him to embark on his epic world tour for mental health and will discuss his experiences from the road.
Ride Don’t Hide at Capilano University
On November 21, the students of the Tourism & Outdoor Recreation Management Program at Capilano University hosted a Ride Don’t Hide event to help fundraise for the campaign. Michael Schratter came to the event to discuss his cycling journey around the world for mental health. The oral presentation also provided methods and tools to help deal with mental health issues.

Ride Don’t Hide Welcome Home Celebration & Community Ride
On November 12, hundreds joined Michael on the final stretch of the epic cycling journey that has seen him cycle 40,000km, crossing six continents and 33 countries over 15.5 months. Several Vancouver VIPs and notables joined Michael on this homecoming ride-along, including Mike Gillis, president and general manager of the Vancouver Canucks, and several Canucks alumni.
A police escort and over a hundred cyclists, including several of Michael’s Gr. 5 students, rode in with Michael from Tsawwassen, past the Richmond Oval and Langara College, finishing at the Welcome Home Celebration at Rogers Arena, where they were warmly greeted by hundreds of friends, family and supporters. Many were moved to tears by the words of Senator Larry Campbell, Hon. Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid, Hon. Mary McNeil, Mike Gillis, Michael Schratter and two of his students.

Ride Don’t Hide Welcome Celebration at Victoria Native Friendship Centre
The BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres, along with CMHA Victoria, were pleased to host a Welcome Celebration for Michael Schratter. After a warm welcome, Michael shared his stories about his journey at a community fundraising lunch Victoria Native Friendship Centre. Funds raised at this event will go towards supporting the Victoria Native Friendship Centre Aboriginal Youth Programs.
Ride Don’t Hide Fundraising Event at Bikeworks in Duncan
On Saturday, October 29, 2011, Canadian Mental Health Association Cowichan Valley Branch hosted a barbecue and inspirational fundraising event. Youth from their BikeWorks program cycled with Michael through Duncan! Proceeds donated at the event will support child and youth mental health programs at CMHA Cowichan Valley Branch.
City of Chilliwack Ride Don’t Hide Welcome by Mayor
The Mayor of Chilliwack and Canadian Mental Health Association South Fraser Branch held an inspirational welcome celebration for Michael Schratter on October 26!
Attendees were provided with the opportunity to donate or take on a membership with the local CMHA Branch.
Michael brings Ride Don’t Hide to Pacific Blue Cross
On October 27, Michael Schratter shared his experiences from his epic, around-the-globe Ride Don’t Hide journey with staff at Pacific Blue Cross.
Michael Guest Speaker at LATA Youth Mental Health Conference
The Learning Assistance Teachers’ Association (LATA) presented its fall conference: “A Positive Approach To Youth Mental Health in Our Schools” on Friday, October 21, 2011 at North Surrey Secondary School. Michael Schratter was a a guest speaker.
The conference was designed for teachers, specialist teachers, counsellors, behaviour specialists, and other professionals working with youth. LATA is a provincial Specialist Association of the BC Teachers’ Federation.
Ride Don’t Hide Reception at CMHA Kelowna Branch
On October 18, CMHA Kelowna Branch hosted a Welcome Home Hero’s Cycling Event & Reception to welcome Michael Schratter to Kelowna, and celebrate his amazing Ride Don’t Hide journey.
Proceeds donated at the event will support child and youth mental health programs at CMHA Kelowna Branch. Proceeds donated at www.ridedonthide.com will support child and youth mental health programs at CMHA, BC Division.
Homecoming BBQ: CMHA Vernon Branch
On October 13, supporters joined Michael Schratter in biking to the CMHA Vernon Branch Homecoming Barbecue!
Welcoming speeches were made by Mayor Wayne Lippert and Cliff Cross, followed by an address by Michael.
The event raised $2,650 with an amazing turnout of 150 people and 40 people who cycled with Michael to the CMHA Kelowna Branch, along with police car escorts.
Proceeds donated at the event will support child and youth mental health programs at CMHA Vernon Branch.
Ride Don’t Hide Canadian Milestone Stop in Winnipeg
On September 22, mental health ambassador Michael Schratter reached the Winnipeg milestone in his epic Ride Don’t Hide journey.
After cycling 33,373 km around the world, Michael was greeted by enthusiastic supporters at the CMHA Manitoba Division, and shared his stories of cycling solo around the world to raise awareness about mental health issues.

Mental Health Week Spin-a-thon
During CMHA’s Mental Health Week, Steve Nash Fitness World and Sports Club and CMHA BC hosted a Ride Don’t Hide Spin-a-Thon to celebrate Michael Schratter’s 20,000 km milestone on his journey around the world for mental health.
Over 145 people – including BC Premier Christy Clark – participated in the 2-hour indoor cycling class, raising $4500 towards Michael’s Ride Don’t Hide campaign.
